Dating an original model

I have an original model 10 and some time ago i e-mailed Diana with the serial number and asked them if they knew how old it was.

I got a reply saying they had no record of this pistol but the date should be stamped on the cylinder.

I have looked and can't see it. on the cylinder beneath the rear sight is a what can be best described as a collar which goes back to the cap on the end of the cylinder, and i am guessing the date is under here.

So i thought someone may have a model 10 and know the age of their pistol and by comparing serial numbers i would know if mine was older or newer giving me a rough age at the least.

Anyway the serial number is 16033.

The date of Original rifles and pistols is usually on the l/h side,as you hold it, in VERY small numbers between the stock and scope rail on a rifle and grip and back sight in the case of a pistol.

Which is exactly were the collar is, But i just whipped off the rear sight span the collar around and there it was a 10 and an 80, i guess that makes it 28 years old then. I dont know what all the fuss was about
