    Question Advice required.daisy powerline 717

Just wondered if any of you guys has ever rebuilt a Daisy Powerline 717 ? mine's about 20 years old, & never been rebuilt as far as I know. Its doing about 2 ft lb's. I stripped it down for a brief internal inspection & can only think the fault lies with the 2 "O" rings, one located in the piston head & the other on the opposite end of the cylinder, I don't know what sort of power a new 717 makes, but I'm pretty sure it should be more 'na this !! I love the pistol to bits " It's Propa BO ah tell thi "
    cheers. john.

Mine does about 2.3 FP - it's fine, that's all there is in 'em

You can slightly adjust the power by reducing the headspace on the pump cup - you can see it when the level is open through the slot - just unscrew it - but don't go too far or it will bend when closed.

I agree with BuddyBoy on this, having rebuilt several 717's.
As long as the 'O' rings are in good order and the linkage is sound, there's nothing you can do that will enhance the power without damaging the pistol.
Treat it for what it is, a super cheap recoilless single stroke pneumatic target trainer or plinker.
    I love 'em.

My 717 does about that as well.I did have an o-ring fail but just bought a packet of large mixed o-rings at Halfords for about £1 and that fixed it.

I have resealed a few 717 pistols. The pump o-ring and plug o-ring are the same size, which is 11/16" x 7/8" x 3/32" thick. Neoprene or nitrile o-rings from a hardware store work fine and don't cost much more than dirt.
The valve o-ring is also a Standard (non-metric) size.
The Daisy pistols are made in the USA so parts are Standard size.

The cocking lever can be adjusted to give a 1" (2.5cm) gap between the end of the lever and the frame when there is no air pressure. The piston is adjustable for length and this effects the gap. Be careful with the piston because it is cheap white metal and will chip and distort.

Typical Daisy 717 velocities will reach 370fps with 7.7 to 7.9 grain pellets. The light 7.0 to 7.3gr will be close to 400fps.

Here are some numbers from my 717:

    DAISY 717
    Crosman Premier (7.9gr)-------------369fps
    H&N Field Target------------------------357fps
    H&N Finale Match (7.7gr)-------------368fps
    Ruko Match (7.5gr)----------------------392fps

Here are some numbers from a friend's 717 (after reseal):

    JSB Match (7.3gr) -----------------------398fps
    RWS Meisters (7.7gr) -------------------372fps

The above velocities are average readings from a group of 5 shots.

    HTH,
    Todd

I have got to say they are great pistols for there price I payed £25 for mine s/h.
Not bad for a pistol that can give sub 1 inch groups at 10 meters.
