try this taken from John Knibbs book The Golden Century p 222 index-Serial prefix RB-Bsa Scorpian Pistol-1972-1994. Hope this is of help.atb from fat man
Hi, according to "The Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols," B.S.A. ceased production of the Scorpion, in 1992, so I would suggest this pistol was produced between 1985>92, this might be as close as you are going to get, unless somebody out there knows different. .....?
Just too many guns! NO, I was only kidding!
They were introduced in 1973, but full scale production was delayed untill 1977.
Production ceased in 1992, so,
Mark one (no groove for scope) 1973-1985.
Mark two ( has groove for scope) 1985-1992
If you want to know an exact date you could try emailing BSA the serial number, i know Weihrauch are happy to do so for their owners, so maybe BSA will do the same.

Where do these dates come from?
I bought, from a sports shop, a MKII with scope rail in 1975, I still have it.
My research indicates 1973-1974 for the MKI without scope rail. 1975-1993 for the MKII.
If numbers are any help mine (bought 1975 I still have the reciept) is RB30247 the R is bigger than the B.
Checking the books you guys are quoting the Blue Book - it's wrong.

Always ready to buy another Webley pistol and another and . . . .
My information comes from The encyclopedia of spring air pistols by John Griffiths.
Out of interest what is your rear sight made of, as this changed to plastic on the mark II (apparently)

Also found this,

A GERMAN site which qoutes the same dates as my book (in German)

Exact quote:
Scorpion MKI - KEMATEL sights. Mfg. 1973-1985
Scorpion MKII - integral scope groove, steel and plastic sights. Mfg. 1985-1993.
My Scorpion definitely falls into the second category and its serial number is PA34544. I have the original box up the loft and that might give a date, but I haven't got time to go up and look just now.
Hope this helps some.
What is KEMATEL

I wondered that too, I would put money on it being a dodgy 1970's plastic?
The Scorpion that I recently bought here on the BBS has the serial RB 22502 and a scope rail, the original rear sight was missing so no information on that part.

So it looks like mine is pre 1975
(Lodmoor (bought 1975 I still have the reciept) is RB30247 the R is bigger than the B.)
