    OK, that sorts it out!

OK, mates: the final bell has tolled, all entries for the December Police Pistol competition are in, and here are the near-final results: NEAR-final, because I need clarification on a couple of shooters' sights, as noted below.

WINNER OF THE COVETED WOODEN SPOON: none other than my own beloved JAN McARTHUR! Jan shot a 209, using her Crosman .357-6 with H&N pellets and iron sights.

Next comes CRABBET, shooting a 230, using a PPk/s with Gamo rounds. Crabbet didn't mention his pellets or sights. I assume "iron", but CRAB: please let me know about sights so I'll know whether to place this score in "iron" or "optical".

Next one up is PHANTOM SNIPER. Tony shot a 240, using a Crosman
.357-6 with D&N Geco pellets and iron sights.

Then we have MICHAELB. Mike scored a 251 using a Walther Nighthawk topped with a Walther Top Point red dot sight and RWS Hobby pellets. So, Mike's scoring in the "optical" category.

His raw score is right on the heels of....

...me, JIM MCARTHUR, who nosed out Mike with a score of 252, using an Umarex Smith, H&N pellets, iron sights.

Then there was a big gap between Jim and...

...MIKE145. Mike scored 267, also using an Umarex "reck police", but shooting his way better than I did mine !

Mike used Bisley practice pellets and open sights, and he was right on the heels of...

...38THFOOT/TONY, who shot a fine 269 with his iron-sighted Beretta 92FS, using RWS Hobby pellets.

AND now.....we get up there where the air is rare! And in just a moment you'll see what I mean when I say we need a bit of clarification before we can declare the winnerS (remember that commencing with this month, we're using "iron" and "optical" sight categories).

In the THIRD place OVERALL score is.....

.....CRABBET! A 271 with his Zastava GP45 using Bisley Practice pellets and iron sights.

The SECOND PLACE, OVERALL score belongs to...

.....COOKIE DUDE/JASON: who bemoans the fact that he "only managed a 280"

But JASON, I need to know your pistol and pellet, and more so, your sights, because I'm not sure whether I should grade this a "winner of the iron sight" category or "runner-up in optical".

But in any case, the overall top score, and I need to know pistol/pellet/sight here also, so I'll know of which category he's the winner, is....

    (.....Drumroll.....)

    (.....Pause......)

Our cartridge pistol champ of old,

    PHILG!

Phil nosed out Jason, with a score of 282!

PHIL, let me know what pistol/ pellet/ SIGHT you used.

And so mates, there you have the raw scores for the December Postal Police Pistol Competition!

After a bit more info is received, I'll be able to sort it into the proper categories. But, I still think we thrill to "who shot the best score?" overall, don't we?

    I know I do!

Thanks to all who participated, and lets get ready and get practicing for the January Police competition, and for Main Match and Side Match and Snooker Match: all brought to you by those wild and wacky UBC boys!

    Cheers,

    Jim

OK! SO....JASON informs me that he used a CP99, with Laser sights and H&N Match K pellets: so COOKIE DUDE / JASON goes into the OPTICAL category.

CRABBET used IRON sights on his PPK/s.

And, PHILG's 8" Smith was mounted with a Weaver Red Dot Sight, so he's in the OPTICAL category, and used a mixture of RWS Target and Crosman Match pellets.

Thus: The OPTICAL category lines up as:

PHILG the Gold winner, with a 282.

With Silver winner COOKIE DUDE hot on Phil's heels with a 280. Too close for comfort indeed, Phil!

Bronze in the Optical category goes to MICHAELB, with a 251.

Then for the more tradition IRON sighters....

The Gold winner is CRABBET, with a 271. Nice shootin' there, mate, and yes, go ahead and have that cup of coffe now

Silver Iron man is 38TH FOOT / TONY, with a 269. (Crabbet, you'd better make that a SMALL coffee! )

And Bronze in the Iron sight category goes to MIKE145, a NEW competitor, shooting his Umarex Smith, with a 267. (Tony and Crabbet, this boy's a threat!)

The rest of us...well, maybe we didn't come in first, second or third - maybe not THIS time - but hey, we entered, we had fun, and showing up's half what life's all about: having fun's the other half!

Help, i am a bit confused.
The police pistol comp requires you to fire six shots, reload, then fire six more.

So surely you need a pistol that holds six or more shots, yet members are using zastava pistols which i have just found out are a five shot semi auto.

    Someone please explain.

Hey Chip, yup they're meant to be five shot but I've found I can squeeze in 6 Geco or Bisley practice flat heads. They're quite short. It'll take five Dynamic CO2 and Eliminators which are quite long.

    Excellent question, Chip.

CRABBET, you used a Zastava - won with it, in fact - how'd you do that?

And I want to make this clear at the outset: no one here is accusing Crabbet of cheating! Not only do we not doubt his integrity, but the situation here is such that his choice of pistol appears to have placed him at a DISadvantage!

Bisley Practice is about 5.50mm long
    logans are 6.15mm long
    Dynamics are 6.50mm long

    5 x 6.5 = 32.50mm
    6 x 5.5 = 33.00mm

I think the Gecos are shorter still, however I was dead chuffed when I found out it could take 6

(The Drulov/Zastava has an in line feeding system)

Ah, Crabbet, now you disappoint me: I thought you were going to tell us that you just shot higher scores uing 5 shots than the rest of us did using 6!

    I wish!
Anyway I feel a Javan dark roast coming on.
    Do we get Certificates?
Cos I'm definitely framing this one!
I accidentally was not hung over on Sunday which I think may have contributed.
    Slightly.

I actually own a cased Drulov DU10 and have done so for about 4 months or so.
I have never used it as it is brand new, they guy i bought it from said he had bought it from new with intention of joining a club, and never did so and claims he had never used it either. And looking at it there is nothing to suggest this is not to be true, it and the case and everything in it is absolutely factory fresh.

So i have sort of put it to sleep, thats why i would like to buy micksons Zastava.

I think there may be a Zastava for sale on here soon!

I have to say I was psyched for it though! I hope it will be a frequent experience!

Well, Tony, certificates would be nice! But we all understand scheduling: mine gets worse now: not only the holidays, but on January 8 - 10 my cannon crew is busy with the Battle of New Orleans (1815) event.

Actually, beginning this month we have TWO (each) Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners, since (beginning this month!) we have Iron and Optical Divisions. However, Optical includes telescopic, red dot, lazer, etc. all lumped together.

And that's as complicated as this competition is ever going to get! Ain't no way we're going to end up with "and the Bronze in the One-Hand-Only, Auto Pistol Look Alike, Optical Division (Red Dot Subdivision) goes to...."
