ALL .44 calibre black powder revolvers are at least .451" in caliber, and therefore are 'really' .45"...
My ROA was bought new in 1986, and also is marked .44" Cal. So it's on my ticket as a .44.
Like most ROA's, it actually shoots a .457 ball/conical.

Admitedly iv only just got my Ruger but no jams as yet. I owned one years ago that did jam up but im sure that was due to the type of primer being used, so not the fault of the gun. cci primers would hang on to the nipple or fall into the hammer action. The remington no11s im using this time around are much better, splitting four ways and falling out of the right of the gun when the cylinder rotates to the next shot.
Try one for size, they are a solid lump of gun and may not suit everyone but you will never wear one out. Probably the best pistol iv ever used.
