Hi chaps, as above I have an old daystate number HH156 , does anyone know if its a huntsman or a midas ? , I have emailed Daystate waiting for a reply,
I would put pic on if they would let me, it looks quite an old one with brass tube
and fold down back sight large cocking bolt, very basic trigger a bit like the sheridan to look at inside, no chequering on stock , looks like a HW trigger gaurd, also its .22 , but no caliber stamp anywhere , just the number above.
possibly a HW 35 stock , did daystate use parts from other makes when they first started out ?, regards Dave,

Thanks Niel, thats bril,

My money is on the Midas as (a) it is too different from my old Huntsman in too many ways to feasibly be a derivative of the same basic rifle, and (b) Neil's photos have sparked a memory that the alcohol hasn't eroded yet of seeing a Midas back when, and the two seem to fit together in my very small brain perfectly . the huntsman serial numbers start with HS and the midas starts with HM iirc.
Thanks Gareth, , it just says Daystate and HH 156 on the block , I need to get it resealed now ,

deffo a midas- midas had a touch that turned everything into gold, this has a gold looking cylinder (well, brass really!!) so it's been touched by king midas

EDIT-would it be for sale by any chance?

no its not a Midas as i said....its a Huntsman High dated 21/12/1984 direct from the daystate airgun database
So, is it a midas, or huntsman ? its got 3000 psi on the block as well,

That is as maybe, but having owned a few Daystate Huntsmen, no way is that a standard Huntsman cocking system or air cyl which is probably where, when, and why the confusion has crept in as those components are indicative of the Midas as John says ... Maybe its one of the famous early-years Friday afternoon "bits-a" specials Daystate produced ?

There are photos of a Daystate Midas with brass cylinder here: http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/show...ighlight=midas ... and photos of my last Huntsman (which was in a walnut FTR stock ) are here http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=295908 for a comparison. Think now more than ever that the rifle above may be a Friday Afternoon Heinz 57 (but still very nice ). Atb: G.
