    BSA Airsporter Mk1 or Mk2 ?

A freind of mine has an Airsporter serial # EC2629 with a tapered loading port.
Is this a Mk1 or Mk2 ? We are in the process of refurbishing it.
It has been in his family since 1970.
Any information regarding date of manufacture will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your replies,
    Regards,
    Carl.

hi, im no expert on these (or any others for that matter ) but i believe the mk 1 had no grooves on the cylinder for a telescopic sight, the mk 2 had grooves , 4 grooves 2 opposite each other, also if mk1 or 2 the loading tap should open when the rifle is cocked,,

    If

If you look at each diagram on
    http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdispl...03&cat=Mercury

You will find the prefixes relavent to each model.

Start Excel to get the data displayed on the screen.
Drag a box over the data (it goes black).
Right-click on it and choose “Copy”.
    Hit Post Reply.

Thanks for your prompt replies, chaps. We dont have all the parts for the trigger assembly, but we have contacted some people here in SA for some 2nd hand spares, there are plenty airsporters gathering dust in garages. My mate also has 2 BSA Improved model D's .177 and .22 - both in working order, but missing sights and cocking lever catches, we'll tackle these later.

Thanks again for the information and welcome.

    Best regards,
    Carl.
