It's hard to age the FWB Sports with certainty, unless FWB has confirmed the manufacturing date. My guess is about 1977 or 1978.

I'm guessing, but think its nearer 1984-85 from the look of the ones I've got.

    I bought No.17044 with a standard stock new on 28th December 1978.
    I bought No.15135 with a deluxe stock new on May 13th 1980, and No.24391 new on 24th August 1980.
    That close enough for you?

Muskett I'm pretty sure that by 1984-85 FWB Sports were well into the 50,000s and not many were made after this point. I know FWB have said that sn. 51631 was made in 1983.

Slug-gun possibly one or two of your Sports may have been stock that was not quite 'factory fresh' when you bought them.

The dates of purchase are obviously the latest point at which the particular rifles came into existence. Clearly those rifles had been 'in stock' for a variable amount of time, hence why 17044 was bought at an earlier time (by over 4 months) than 15135.
I do recall though that when I bought 17044, which was bought from John Stevens at 'The Airgun Centre' for £72, the deluxe being £79, the FWB Sport had not been long out.

I bought 40200 brand new in summer 1981. Sounds you like you have a much earlier one.

Not really, a consensus pointing to a date in the years before 1980 and then Muskett's guess.

You know 40200 was sold in summer 1981 and 17044 in December 1978. Both are likely to have actually been made somewhat earlier.
