How much powder ammo etc to apply for?

Bearing in mind that I am not applying for an explosives licence - what would you suggest that I put down for in terms of substitute powder (and how do you term it - propellant powder?), caps and lead balls for each calibre pistol I apply for (.36 and .45)?

I might be wrong but i dont think you have to apply for any sort of licence or specify any sort of limit if you are using a propelant. If you are applying for a black powder permit i put "legal maximum" when i applied. That was a long time ago though and Health and Safety probably plays a bigger part now.
You can keep as many primers and balls as you like. I tend to make my own balls as and when i need to and buy primers 500 at a time.

That's interesting Tim - didn't know that! But come to think of it I suppose it is the same as reloading - no restrictions on how much powder, bullet heads (read balls) primers (read as per caps) - just need to show your FAC.

But does it need to say anything on FAC about it at all?

Anyone else to confirm / deny?

You don't need to show your FAC for Caps - only primers for metallic reloading

Oh well, looks as if I don't need anything on FAC about it apart from the pistols themselves.

I've not done reloading so haven't looked into this side of at at all.

yes all correct, just apply for the slots for the required revolvers/pistols etc

propellant (not BP), caps, balls wads etc, no limits on storage quantities

I buy my balls, .454 for my revolver, as and when I start to use it more I might look at casting my own, but £7 for 100, would take a fair while at the rate I use them to recoup the costs of the gear to melt and mould my own.
Don't worry it only seems kinky the first time
