    Thumbs up record group

having beautiful weather for christmas atleast the way we know it down here makes you wanna go out and send some lead down range. me and 'fullmetaljacket' met up for some shooting and indeed we set up two targets one at 145 m and a couple of others at 138m. i started out by having a look at my wind clock. temperature 19degrees celcius. dialled in 9.3mils for elevation an 0.5Mils left windage.
aimed for the lower paper and send 3 shots, the first three shots of the day and i was laughing like £"!£R$! full metaljacket came to watch and took the spotter. i asked how much do you estimate that group i just shot, he said well its small thats for sure. measured it and found it 2" at 145m which is remarkable. usually im hovering in about 4-5" groups depending on wind. at the time i shot that group wind was full value 3mph constant. then it started picking up. the other groups we shot where about 4" however we did get 3 shots out of another 5 that where 1" while the other 2 shots opened it up to 3.4".

heres the setup with the windclock with the elevation and wind drift values which i use for calculations.

then we went on the rocks and i fullmetal jacket fired some shots at the orange, being close but not a hit.
i told him that i wanted to have a go and needed to rework the winddrift calculation, we did and dialed in for a half value wind, he sat behind me with the spotter and i fired the first round, distinctly i hear : you toook it out! rolled over and fell. theres a pic of the exit hole. we had some other targets that we shot with a 2nd or 3rd shot being a hit.

went back to 145m to chrono the rifle in the colder weather(this rifle is use to 40 degrees summer temperatures) and velocity was rather low about 903ft/s average which needed 3-4 clicks extra over what i had worked out in summer. we did shoot some other groups that averaged 3-5inch again however the wind was constantly changing from 1/2value to full value and this played with our groups however some where only an inch from the aiming mark. needless to say we were very happy dudes after. kissed the baby and put her in her cott again

Nice one flims, very nice groups. I will later on show you photos of the range shooting i did on the 23rd, i did a 100yds group with the rapid .25 , i shot 2 shots right on top of each other and the third shot was 1ins to the right due to me repositioning myself.

I was out shooting yesterday with the .25 , i did another shoot out and to tell you the truth flims the .25 with thses barracudas 31gr perform match target shooting, for a .25 to produce such superb groups at 100yds to me is that is outstanding performance and with a down range energy that is also deadly.

You know the more i shoot the .25 the more and more i feel its more accurate at long ranges then the other calibers, accurate in the sence it produces tighter groups at say 100-200 yds. Once you get the power and weight to match it will amaze you. I shot afew of those .25 superfields to see how they performed through the rifle and they were awful , they grouped like a shot gun at 25yds, the only ammo is the barracuda 31gr and the speed of 825-830fps produced the finest groups and still alot of knock down energy too.

Ah ! these .25 's they are a very superior round and especially for the FAC air-rifle hunters this is got to be the best hunting cali for air rifles.

Nice shooting flims and soon once I get the new computer (mine has crashed so using my daughters lap top to write now) I also have a nice digitel camera so i will take some photos and show you on here.
Have a nice christmas and a happy new year.

thanks costas indeed you have to try it to believe it, its another world compared to the 12ft/lbs with 177
i will start weighing them to see if groups can indeed improve and get such results more often. 4" at 145m is not bad but if i could achieve groups in the 2" circle like the one i shot this time, it would be simply awesome. if it happens once you could make it happen again. i cant tell you how i enjoyed placing the third shot near the others and watching it arc its way and make the hole near the other two shots. this time i could see the arc better as the target was a large white piece of paper. give it a go at 145 Costas and show me some groups. enjoy the festive season. the weather is awesome down here 20degrees celcius and sunny
