But what are the justifications Simon. Remember I am in the Met and they seem to want reasons for picking your nose.

Literally, all of them are for target shooting.

I have a pair of Uberti Cattlemen, in .44, Western Shooting.
A pair of Pietta Navy Sheriffs, in .36 as above.
A .36 Uberti 1861 Navy, with shoulder stock.
    And a .44 R&S, with adjustable sights.

I've also just found an early Uberti 1851 London Navy in pristine condition and I fancy a Westlake Taurus. So another couple of variations going in!

I'm not UK-based, but I was under the impression that to get a particular gun on FAC you needed to show intended use, but that such was rather readily demonstrated if there was a difference in the guns, and you could articulate a diferent use for each.

For example: it was permissible to own, say, 4 x .22 rimfire rifles, if you could show that:

1 was a bolt action with a scope, intended for daylight rat / rabbit hunting

1 was a bolt action with night vision, intended for nighttime hunting

1 was a semi-auto, intended for the Police Pistol competition

and 1 was an underlever, intended for plinking at the range.

The problem, as I understand it, comes in when you want multiple matching copies, and can't articulate a valid reason.

A .44 for longer distances, a .36 for shorter, for times when less recoil is desired, for studying the comparative accuracy, etc. sound like valid reasons.

Two .44's just because you want to own two .44's, probably wouldn't suffice. But if you needed a matched pair for cowboy action shooting? Probably a valid reason.

Some of this relates to the tradegy at Dunblane when Hamilton had identical pistols in .357 and 9mm. Since then Police Authorities have been a little reluctant to allow too many similar firearms. However if you can show a genuine requirement there is no reason why you shouldn't have several pistols. I previously had an .44 R&S revolver, a Ruger .45 Old Army, a .44 Pedersoli Le Page flintlock and a .44 Pedersoli Kuchenreuter. I only have the Ruger left but I could quite legally have added original percussion and flintlock pistols, a matchlock pistol and an original percussion revolver because there are match classes for all these.
At present I have three .22 rifles but they all have a different purpose.

    Hi Simon G
Off the original topic but where did you get the gun rig in your pics, looks good.
Back on topic got a uberti .44 cattleman and a pietta .44 1860 army colt and just about to put in for a variation for another two.

Simon, I guess you don't take them all to the range the same day, as you would spend all night cleaning them - oh and most of the morning

Friend of mine has one of those Cattleman pistols - SAA Peacemaker, I've only seen him use the once, and just waiting for him to give me first refusal when he decides to sell it..

On Merseyside no problem getting a .36 and a .44 and say a La Page in the same calibre as aforementioned.

Don't know of anyone though ever requesting 2 pistols of the same calibre. You could probably show justification if one was a standard size Navy 51 and one was the Sheriff's short barrel version. You could state for different comps I suppose. I was considering getting the longer barrel for my 61 Navy Sheriff at some point - not sure how I'd stand though might enquire when my FAC is up for renewal.

As said previously Simon nice rig, I like the knife. Do you do some form of western renactment?

    Thumbs up BP pistol calibres

I applied for .36 BP revolver Nov 2007 on my first firearm application, after 12 months decided I would like to get serious so sent in variation for 2x .44 BP revolvers, explaining one with fixed sights for club comps and one with adjustable target sights for postal comps, came back OK no questions, on the subject of same calibre applications I had 2x .22 rifles and asked for another .22 on the same variation for dedicated 100 meter target shooting, I asked that I only wanted .22 for target shooting and economy, did not want any other calibre as .22 is the cheapest again no problem.

When I asked for another 44/45 muzzle loading revolver I just filled in the form stateing on the form "For target shooting" and had no problems. It was the same for the 3 .22 I've got I just sent off the form with no cover letter and was sent back my FAC with no question with all that I asked for.
Real calibres start with a .4

If so, there's a good reason: Cowboy Action Shooting is a 2-revolver competition.

The rig was bought in the only place to get a "Cowboy" rig..... the US! Its a rough out cartridge belt, with sewn loops for .357, tight, so that they double duty for .32-20. The guy who made it, Red River Saddelry has retired now.

The long guns I use are an Uberti 1873 in .357 and an original Marlin 1894, actually manufactured in 1894, in .32-20.

The knife is a Joel Burden commisioned, mini Coffin Handled Bowie. D2 steel and burlap micarta, with copper pins. Again, Joel works and lives in the US. Modern materials in a classic style. It's made to be used! He doesn't really make sheaths, but he actually matched the colour from a photograph!

No, no re-enactment. That's not my bag at all. However, CAS allows a great 3 gun comp with weapons that I find really interesting. Granted, the "period" dress can make you a little self conscious, especially with us "tight assed" Brits!

    Hi
As stated in other posts I had applied for another two .44 revolvers on top of the two I already have.
The police rang yesterday, spoke to the missus, whilst I was in work to clarify why I wanted more which she explained, ok as long as there was a good reason ,which is that we both intend shooting CAS, and I should get the ticket back in a couple of days.
Spoke to them today to see if it was possible to collect the ticket but it was to late as it was posted yesterday so hopefully it'll turn up tomorrow, then its off shopping.
If its all ok that will mean I have four .44 slots in total so as long as you can give a good enough reason multiple ownership can be possible.
