Well,i have a bowket desighn bsa firebird, single shot. 70 shots a fill a cracking little gun. so one on your list already. john
Following on from my top 10 springer list thread. I got back into airguns after last holding one when 16 (an old BSA). In 2007 while helping my cousins friend set up a gun club back home I happened to mention airguns to him as the regulations would be almost non and might be an option for him. Amazingly acquiring single shot AK's is not a problem nor pump action shotguns and pistols but setting up a club is a nightmare.
Having not touched an air gun for a long time I googled to see what was available now. Amazed to see what was on offer and decided that upon returning to the UK would buy some.
Of course PCP were new to me and they looked great, very modern and some very military looking which appealed to me from shooting firearms back home with my cousins military friends.
Acquired some PCP's here in the UK and back home (HW100, ULTRA,RWS,SHINGSUNG etc) but then started to look at the collectors section here and forgot all about the steam guns.
But I still like the older PCP and the weird and wonderful limited or one off guns.
I have acquired an Airpropel Nimrod and will soon have a Gamekeeper.
What other older PCP are out there, I have looked at Micks guns and some other sites, looking for guns that work not just a wall hanger. I collect but shoot them too I do not have guns which I never fire.
What do the members have?

I was reading up on the firebird just last night.

I have the Firebirds little brother, a BSA SPITFIRE SF and will soon have the HF version. Lovely guns and different enough for me to add to the list.
I have seen a Firebird for sale and am planning to take a look.
GC2 is an all time classic, along with the isp airstreams and zeniths. All made to a much higher standard than anything out there today
The GC2 was the PCP rifle to have in the 80's but at half the price the Shamal was excellent value for money. The Shamal and its derivatives took most of the FT honours at the time and ended the HW 77's glory days
hold me back !!
Best of the older pcp's (not in any specific order of how good):
Sportsmatch GC2 Mk1, Mk2, Mk3;
Air Arms Shamal;
Daystate Huntsman Mk1/Mk2;
Ripley AR3 and AR4;
ISP Airstream;
Mick Dawes Special;
Air Arms 100 Series;
Daystate LR90;
Daystate 2000 - got poor reviews at the time but is actually a really nice rifle!
I agree totally with Whizzer, the build quality on these guns is streets ahead of the current offerings. These guns shoot just as accurately as any of the latest wonder guns, the only area they lose out is perhaps number of shots per charge, but so what air is one of the cheapest parts of this game. I bet most of these older guns are still in full functioning condition today and will continue to be functional long after some of these modern high tech rifles have fried their circuits.
Thanks Rich, but it is in a gun shop up North here. How much is the one down there?.Is it the one in a shop near me? If so drop me a PM.
Rich.
Whats a nice one worth???? John

NJR 100 series was a great gun and still is today

Daystate
Huntsman QC
Huntsman FTR Custom
Two landmark rifles IMO, worthy a spot in any a PCP collection
Going to have to trawl the net for pictures of all these guns now. Any one have any links? or there own pics?.
Hi el maipino,
The only "older" pcp I have ever owned was a Daystate Rentokil gun, or so I was told that's what it was. It had a stainless steel reservoir and a very, very crude one piece trigger/sear mechanism, the top of the trigger was hardened and acted directly on the the hammer.
I don't have the gun anymore, I sold it to a friend who still has it though, so I may be able to get some pictures of it if your interested?
