    Hydrographics- Does it ruin stippling?

Has anyone asked Hydrographics to refinish a stippled stock?

I've an old target stock which I fancy a matt black finish on but I need to retain the benefit of the stippling?

Does the finish simply fill in the stippling and ruin the effect?

Contact them direct. (01904 778188), and speak to them. They are very helpful and will be able to answer your questions. IMHO the stippling will not be "filled in" as the film is thin enough to follow the stippling

Call John tomorrow and ask him 01904 778 188

Most things are possible and the hydro transfer can adopt some pretty complex shapes.

However, as I do not personally have experience of hydro transfers, it is diffiult to say if they have suffient elasticity for the peaks and vallys associated with stippling.

I am sure this can be shielded and a rubberised coating applied to aid grip subsequently

If all your wanting is matt black then just spray it with plasti-kote matt black, its a lot cheaper than a hydro jobby.
I did one in matt black and it looked really good, but i now want it a new colour so i'm in the process of spraying it Hunter green

Hydrographic dips will follow every contour on your stock, every little stipple, nook and cranny to the minutist detail, no problem. And they give great service at good prices. I have just had my hornet done, which does not have stippling, but the chequering was done superb.
have a look at this piccy of my hornet

    regards

Cheers Richard, I dont know if they will prep your stock, other than thoroughly clean it prior to the dipping process. I think it would be best to make sure you iron out any dents and smooth any major blemishes yorself. Give em a ring.

You wont be dissapointed. Have you had a look at their website?

    regards

I would agree with the above, I have tidied up several rifles using matt spray, you could at least give it a go before laying out a lot of cash.
It will still give you the option of hydro graphics at a later date if not happy with a DIY spray job!
have a look at this one below.
