    Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44 BT

Just note it hasn't been mounted on the rifle as yet, but has it been fondled and peered through, you bet.

very very nice, bit miffed about two things though.....1) instructions say to use the micro fibre cloth for cleaning, what cloth? Phoned Swaro straight away, looks like someone from Churchills has pinched it from the box 2) the lens protectors have clear plastic ends to them so it can be left on, the front one is scratched to f.... And makes it useless to look through, I suppose the enclosed keyring with BT turret key might have done this?

The scope itself... Went for the 4 ret rather than the plex to leave the top half completely clear of any post. The posts themselves are rather further apart than the pic on their web site would seem to show but shouldn't be a problem. The cross hairs are extremely fine and this concerned me as to whether I would even see them under lamp, no problem at all, put the lamp on last night in the garden on very low and had a peer through, wow, they they were. From bedroom window on x6 mag and looking through nets, I was able to see very clearly under street lamp light and into dark areas. Will do a better review once it's been in proper use

Also meant to say this is the best scope I have ever looked through (apart from a friends Z6)
reason for not mounting it yet, booked out for a Friday night session and don't want to be faffing around zeroing in the dark, will wait til weekend and get her on there, then have some fun setting up the BT side of things. Already got the clicks worked out for the traffic light rings.

Best part of £1.5k for a scope and it's damaged with bits missing, I would be going f..ing mental

I thought you could only have the plex ret with the BT turrets - kinda defeats the object of them if you have multiple aim points

EDIT. Just realised what the 4 ret is I take it back - good choice.

Because the eye relief is so long (3.7") the scope has to be mount a bit further forward which would have meant the front base only half on the dovetail, but I had a plan, already got a dovetail to picatinny rail converter and some nice vertically split rings that are quite slim as only one grub screw top and bottom. Ran into another only slight problem, these rings are low ones which meant I couldn't have fitted the bolt in the rifle

Quick search on the web and found optics warehouse do a pair of 1/2" risers and they came the next day (today)

    thanks optic warehouse, brilliant service

Glad to say they fitted a treat onto the dovetail to pic converter I already had, then the split rings on top.

wow wow wow scope is set for perfect eye relief on first mounting and although 1/4" higher now than previous scope, it is just absolutely perfect.

one of the things I like about vertically split rings, is if you line the dot up on the scope which shows what mag it is set to and bang on the most upper part of the scope right in the middle of the top split, the cross hairs are now true vertical.

hopefully out tomorrow to zero at 100yds, then set up the BT

scope had it's maiden outing last night and set the zero to 50yds (same as 100) but will need to do a proper 100 yarder another time. Am I impressed under lamp, oh yes, very much so. The cross hairs almost seem to glow at night time, strange thing to say, but can't really describe it properly, had the mag set to x6 and I was able to see in the dark on a golf course without using the lamp, but not able to see the hairs though. Turning on the lamp is amasing, the image seen even under a low lamp is awesome and I was able to clearly see foliage at 250yds on the driving range with the lamp up higher. Glad I bought it, you bet. I envy those with the Z6 but it just wouldn't have worked on an hmr with over a 1/3" per click, the Z5 is 1/4"

The 3-18x50 and bigger Z6 scopes have 5mm @ 100m clicks, which work out to about 1/5th MOA.

... for models with 2.5-15 magnification or less.
