I have a Daystate Merlyn S and I'm thinking of getting the Daystate Carbon Compact Silencer for it, I think its about £35 but need to ask a few questions before I part with my cash and want to hear from anyone who has one on the Merlyn?
1. does it need an adapoter to fit onto the barrel shroud becasue the gun doesn't have a UNF thread?
2. how much quieter does it make the gun?
Cheers in advance folks.

Hi - Yes, it requires the adapter, and makes a reasonable sound reduction.
However, the real benefit is that it is a lot shorter than a full size silencer.
Have you seen MK 4 Airstream silencer on the Daystate website, it states that the length of the barrel is only increased by 4 inches, the rest slides over the barrel.

Hi mate,
I have just fitted one to my Merlyn (X2) simply to restore some of the balance, Its not as quiet as a HW or QGS, but it does help. The main thing is its light, and short. I have a UKNEIL pre silencer on as well which makes a big difference.

Cheers guys,
I had looked at the Airstream Mk4, whilst its nice its also a fair price, the Carbon Compact is cheaper, and if I'm honest has a bit more 'pose' value too.
I don't suppose either of you guys has any photos you could post, do you?

youll be lucky to find a carbon compact, discontinued now.
Had one and sold it looked great but not that effective.ATB Hughie PS got photo if you want
To finish first first you must finish
You can also try looking for an RWS/Manders compact silencer..... similar dimensions to the DS one, but made from steel.
I have both, and their effectiveness is similar - I use the Manders on my HW80, as it can be used as a cocking aid, since the barrel was shortened and threaded. Not so sure you could do that with a CF one?
As said already, they're not as effective as a 'full size' silencer, but they certainly take the CRACK! out of the muzzle report.
