I want one of those :)

i was at bisley today and one of the stalls had a .70 stainless cannon about 24inch, on wheeled trolley.
it was a fantstic bit of kit, fully working and on ticket. problem is it was sold and he said it could have sold 5 times over.
i have to find me one.

    I want one.

If you talk to Doug Purdey at the Lincolnshire shooting Center he has some.

I.ve seen one shot....great fun...and very accurate at 25 meters.

I'd check with your local firearms officer first as they seem to be difficult to get on a ticket.

If they're smoothbore, they wouldn't need to to on FAC, would they? Wouldn't an SGC suffice?

Ye, so long as it's at least 24" from muzzle to point of ignition

If the barrel isn't rifled, and if the touchhole is at least 24 inches from muzzle, and if they, therefore, don't need to be on FAC: why would any merchant be selling them as FAC items?

Are the ones Krank's selling rifled? Barrels shorter than 24 inches?

A F.A.C is needed if shooting with solid shot, regardless of the muzzle length

I've not measured one but I think they are shorter than 24". I'm going in this week for some other gear I'll ahve a look and let you know.

Remember a barrel is measured from muzzle to point of ignition

A shotgun is still a shotgun even if you load ball, no FAC required unless it's sawn off or loads more than 3 cartridges. There are restrictions on where you can shoot ball but that doesn't make it FAC.

I cut my ML teeth shooting ball from a musket on SGC until the club allowed me to apply for a FAC, by then I had a regular arsenal of antique rifles and was spoilt for choice
