    goldstar problem

    While shooting the goldstar this afternoon,I cocked it BUT the underlever will not return to its engaged position under the barrel.It is about 1.5" away and is resisting any movement.HELP!

    it could have worn to the point that the shoe has gone past the piston, i have a mercury coming to me with the same problem, if this is what's happened, it will need a new a new cocking link or the shoe making back to the correct thickness by welding then grinding back to size

    but then it could be something completely different as i've never had a goldstar in pieces

    I had a Goldstar the other day to deal with exhibiting exactly this symptom.
    What had happened with that one was that over time 8 pellets had fallen into the cylinder infront of the piston, and so prevented it from returning to the front of the cylinder and thus prevented in turn the underlever from closing properly.
    The only remedy was a strip down where following removal of the pellets gathered in the end of the cylinder all was well.
    Yours sounds like it has this problem?

    That would be my suggestion too, my first Goldstar had a small pile of hammered pellets sitting in front of the sliding cylinder, it happens on both .177 and .22 rifles.
