    .22rf Valmet Finnish Lion Rifle

I have owned the above rifle for a couple of years but never shot it, mainly because of the lack of spare time, so I'm thinking of selling it. When I bought the rifle the rear sight was missing, hence the price I paid. Can anyone tell me if rear sights are available, if not is it worth selling the rifle as it is (it has scope rails milled on the receiver).
Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Greg

    Finnish Lion

Try the rifleman.org.uk website which has a section on the Finnish Lion but does not say much about the sights. You can contact the website however and they may be able to direct you to further help. The peepsights are pictured but I do not recognise them as eg Parker Hale but someone who is an expert on peepsights might be able to ID them. You might be able to fit another sight and possibly a tang type rear sight to the stock.

    .22rf Valmet Finish Lion Rifle

I have a standard Valmet "Finish Lion" which I use for bench rest with a scope. I too do not have the orginal front & rear sights. Last week I tried the front & rear Anschutz sights but the rear sight could not be clamped to the dovetail on the receiver.
I would be interested if you find out any information on this rifle.

If I do find anything I'll let you know, although it does appear difficult to get info about these rifles.

I guess this is the Valmet Suomen Leijona under an English name (the meaning is the same, anyway, plus the description seems to match).

Anyway, I happened to find a shop that has at least the diopter plates for the Suomen Leijona. The email address is tommi.roponen(at)hotmail.com, the website URL is http://www.aseetjavaraosatkaihakkinen.fi/?sivu=index (sorry, Finnish only, but I guess the guys at the shop would know English enough to answer your queries.)

Another place I'd ask is Heikki Taipalus here in Finland, he seems to stock all kinds of mystic parts for target guns. The website address is http://www.heikkitaipalusky.fi/?page=etusivu&sub= (again, Finnish only) and his email is heikki.taipalus(a)co.inet.fi.

I also saw a note to the effect that the diopter sights off a Valmet m/27 military rifle would fit. However, I have no way of ascertaining this.

There also seems to be a forum dedicated to various Valmets at http://www.valmet.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=2 - mayde they could be able to help you further.

    Cheers,

    -Topi
