    Vintage air guns for competition

What vintage air rifle, what vintage air pistol, would you select for a 6-yard bullseye competition?

"Vintage" defined here as having gone out of production before 1986.

My double barreled 410 Daisy BB shotgun..if I miss, very likely, just lob it at the target! It's so powerful you can see the bbs as they exit.

If I wanted to score well, my LP2.

As I am more likely to need an excuse for scoring badly, well, there are lots of choices

Interesting qu, I wonder what my least accurate air pistol is.... nasty feeling its a junior.

Only one in my collection & that would be my .22" B.S.A Stutzen. There's a chance my Webley Hurricane would have been made on or before 1986. Having said that, my Stutzen was made in 1986, so falls outside your chosen date.

Far too many rifles & pistols to mention here.

    Vintage at 6m

Might have a problem getting diopter sights down enough...but would use Walther LG55, HW55...I would also fancy my chances with open sights on Original Model 25, Cadet Major, Crosman 400...but to be honest I have never shot at 6m, only 10m. Vintage pistol would have to be the Crosman 150/157.

If "vintage" is defined as "having gone out of production" for the model series my only chances would be the Diana (Original) 65 or the Diana (Original) 50.

The Model 50 was, I think, built after the cutoff date of 1986 but mine is an early one, with the three-ball trigger and pretty much sharing the action with the Model 35. So it's not the later Model 50 with the Model 45 type action and I'd argue those with the three-ball trigger were not made in 1986.

However, of these two, for any kind of precision work up to 25 metres I'd choose the 65 every time.

    Cheers,

    6 yards?

I think that would be a job for my Anschiana 250.
