    Hi,

Good quality pictures are what's needed to give an accurate appraisal, but what series is it?, what calibre?, any extras? i.e. barrels, box/case, accessories...all of this will have a bearing on its value.

To give you some idea though, a few months back I sold a 3rd series, .22, with tool marks, one missing screw, one non original screw and worn original finish for £250 (plus post).

    HTH,
    Dave

if its a mark 2 series 1 and the last 3 numbers of the serial are 443 and he wants to sell it i will give whatever he asks no matter what the condition or cost

its my ambition in life to find a mark 2 series 1 with the last 3 numbers of 443

then i can look for a series 2 etc

If it is a Mk 2 first series not only would the last 3 numbers be 443 but the first 3 would also be 443

Less than 1000 first pattern Mk.2's were made so the number 443 is all you would get, it being the true serial number.

    Of course you may ask!

Actually 'less than 1000' might be incorrect, as the highest numbered Series 1 I know of is S.875, but the LOWEST numbered Series 2 is S.1103, a 'gap' therefore of 228 rifles.

In other words it is possible that the Series 1 crept over the 1000 mark.
So if any of the good people of the BBS know of either a Series 1 with a number greater than 875, or a Series 2 with one less than 1103 I should be pleased to hear about it. Ta.

What is sure is that S.443 is a Series 1, and S.1443 is a Series 2!

A month or so back, in J.Knibbs's shop, there was two in very good condition & they were over £600 each.

    Chris.
Far too many rifles & pistols to mention here.
