    Go on then, educate us please... what's a coaster top and what's this breakaway thing mentioned in the link ? My iggerance is showing
    It's a shrinking list but I name TMR1 foxing rifle in .22/250, Tikka M55 Supersport 6BR, Tikka M65 308, Tikka M65A 308, Tikka M590 243, Sako Finnfire Range .

    people use them on front focus scopes and on the mag ring

    the top is the bit that screws off and on to secure it

    Yes exactly, they help with fine focusing which of course the plastic tops do but these are nicer and blingier (is that a word ??)
