T R Robb PTFE Piston Head? Yay or nay?

Rebuilding My aged MK2 Mercury and was considering fitting the above, its got the Nylon O-ring piston head atm, But I've read mixed reviews about Mr Robb, thinking about the spring guide too.

Am I right inthinking the PTFE head increases the stroke too ?

    Cheers

    Robb ptfe piston heads

    Hiya mate,
first off I note he doesnt advertise the ptfe heads now on his web site- but does seem to mention them in the tune kits he does (so not sure if he makes them anymore)- best ring and check.

As for whether to get one for your Merc- well I can only say I've fitted them to Dianas, Anschutz, (about 5 or 6 rifles now- cant recall) and with the exception of a HW35 I also did they have worked very well, and given improvments in both consistency and power (be careful with the latter though). Not sure if the Merc is a model covered in the range he does/used to produce?

    Best regards,
    Dave

    Mercury/Airsporter

TR Robb did specialise in producing a one piece ptfe head to replace the original aluminium/steel head. I would phone him. I have used the Robb ptfe replacement piston seals on a few guns and they were fine.

i think he still does the ptfe head i have just made and fitted a ptfe head to my own mercury i bought a peice of ptfe rod in 30mm and just reduced it to 28mm i then ground down the pin on the front of the piston drilled a hole in it slight rebait on the end of the ptfe and screwed it on with a self tapper and washer drop of locktight on the thread and it works a treat i then put a bonnie and clyde kit in it and drilled out the breech port and tapered it all this was done with nothing more than a cordless drill and the result is brilliant full power lower recoil and very accurate at 20 meters (the length of my garden ) i can group as small as my AAs400 so am well chuffed though if you are doing it to a 22 watch the power as you could take it over 12lb it is a very easy gun to work on and tune to a decent level hope this helps good luck

I know Dave of Bonnie & Clyde has his problems at the moment, but he now makes his own PTFE piston seals, so I wonder if he would have any advice on this.
