    Bsf model 55?

Hi, can anyone help me with some info, I have the opporunity to purchase a B.S.F. B55 .22 air rifle, serial number is 1063, it also has 5394 on the underside of the barrel. Does anyone know when it was manufactured? also what is the average value? it is in average condition.
Sorry I can not post pics, as its not in my possesion. (YET!!!)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

    value

two different ser. numbers on barrel and comp.tube , not original barrel/tube. numbers would match on original rifle. no big deal, if rifle is in good condition price should be in $200-$300 U.S. range, more or less depending on cond. AL ..ser.#1063 pre. 1970 best guess 1965-66

    Hi Alb77,

I suspect that all BSF rifles have different numbers on the barrel and the receiver. See my this photo http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailsh...8/t_=127577558 from my mint BSF S54 Bavaria. The numbers can be quite easily seen and although I did not buy the rifle new, I have had it for decades and it appears to be totally standard. I bought it in UK from the original purchaser. Except for wildly varying trigger pull let-off weight, It's a really nice item.

my bsf 55 has 1175 on the action by the underside of the jaws and 1175 on the breech block but 5857 on the barrel it`s self . the gun was owned from new by one person who i got it from , runs at 9.2 with superdome and is pre 75 but as the original buyer has passed away i don`t know an exact date as to a value mine is in pretty good condition with only very miner marks to the screw heads but the bag grip stock is very good and i would value it at £140
    hope this of some help
