For Sale: 1950's WEBLEY Mark 1 air pistol in original carton:

For Sale: A pre-1958 Webley Mark 1 .177 air pistol in excellent original condition. The cylinder bearing the 'BIRMINGHAM 4' address, and the rear breech plug marked 'DO NOT REMOVE' in large letters. Very unusually this example has a Smooth-Bore barrel with the letter 'B' stamped on the barrel pivot.
The pistol retains most of its original blued finish, with minor loss on the edge of the cylinder where it has lain in the box, and slight thinning of the blue to the barrel, but overall it is very good.
The gun is still in the original carton with the pale blue label, which is structurally sound and clean, the only blemish being where the original hand written price on the label has been crossed out.
In the box is a No.1 Webley target.
Price for this very good original example of a 50+ year old Webley is £185 + post.

Further price drop to an even more modest £135 - surely you all can't be credit crunched?

    Credit crunch

Does not seem to be anything selling at the moment...look at the desirable but unsold guns on here! Nice Webley pistol, FWB, Omega etc etc. Just console yourself by thinking that the value of your Webley will most certainly increase at more than the 1/2% interest you will get on a bank account!!

All true - but that's just the point. If all you can get for your money is 1/2% you might as well invest it in something which as well as returning a greater amount than that, is also nice to look at and own?
I suppose that does depend on having the cash to invest in the first place though.

I will take this - it's a crazy world when a new all-plastic and alloy Diana LP8 air pistol is currently retailing for about £225 and there are no takers for a boxed piece of engineering quality air pistol history for just over half the price! I will happily own and gaze on this, rather than watch an equivalent fistful of £20 notes slowly lose their value day by day. You have an email.
