Why do we do it ?

Hello all, why do you all ( and me shortly) have a second an third + Airrifle outfit? Is it a backup incase your No1 goes belly up, or are you looking for that perfect set and have not found it yet.
    Whats your excuse?

Why should we need an excuse?

For many I think it's simply the pleasure of ownership.

    For...

...me it was an OCD I have had my therapy (the missus clocked the gun room) and I've gone into remission and thinned out a few.

I'm now down to 30 I don't include the pistols as they don't count, obviously , otherwise it would get silly

Because we can (at least for now )

Also for me, it's like an appreciation of design and how things evolve around a common theme. Each expert manufacturer has the answer, it's been our job for years to see if they are right, or prove we're more expert by improving things a bit.... and so the hunt for perfection begins.

Only have one main rifle for rabbiting, one main underlever, one main break barrel and one main .177. I also only have one main summer bike and one main winter bike. There is only one main car for me and then one main car for the family.

All that happens when you grow older, not up, is that boys toys cost more!!

I'm holding steady with 8 now, should drop to 7 soon. 5 is a good number though.

Steady is good, it's the damned unplanned increases that give me cause to reflect a few weeks later.... Why oh why, but then I remember..... It's because it was one I needed

Yep, I may have got away with the springer after the first PCP on these grounds, but I now have 3 pcps, 5 springers (1 bought for nostalgic reasons and 1 rescued from the crusher) and 4 pistols.....

And if I could afford a verminator....I would have one after the HW35 has been to VMach

    Why lots of guns?

    A backup gun.
Guns/scopes for various conditions (short range, long range, day, night, nightvision).
    A variety of calibres for different tasks (.177, .20, .22, .25).
A variety of powerplants (spring, gasram, PCP).
A variety of stock shapes (e.g. sporter, thumbhole).
    For conducting experiments.
To lend to newbies (are you reading, Stu? ).

    Current tally is roughly:
    4x HW100 variants.
    1x Theoben Rapid.
    3x Theoben Evolution variants.
    1x Theoben SLR98.
    7x Air Arms TXHC variants.

This is a picture taken when I had six HW100's.

Two of the three full-length HW's were sold a while ago; they had been earmarked for experiments into internal improvements and anti-tamper, but I decided that I didn't have the time to pursue the projects and I prefer the carbine versions.
But I do miss the full-length .177 that I sold........not that I'd use it much, since I have two "special" .177K's.
