Talking ASI Paratrooper repeater FOR SALE .177

    FOR SALE
    ASI PARATROOPER REPEATER in .177

I need to thin out my collection a bit so I’ve ventured into the wardrobe to see what I can release back into circulation… (apparently 3 of these is OTT… ahem!)

This is the elusive ‘repeater’ version of the ASI / El Gamo Paratrooper air rifle.
Condition isn't mint, but its in good working order and hasn’t been abused. The dark brown plastic stockwork has some general scuffs and light marks to it, but there are no cracks or repairs and it has the original sticker still present. The black 'crackle' finish paint to the underside of the end block and trigger guard has started to flake, but as the white metal underneath was never keyed I suspect this will be happening to most of them at this age. The original sights are still fitted. This version does not have a safety catch.

For those who’ve never seen one before, the ‘repeater’ section is the detachable metal tube that sits on the top of the receiver. There is a spring inside along with a cocking lever. You pull the cocking lever back and locate it into a notch to compact the spring and then load the .177 pellets tail first into the tube. Then replace the tube onto the gun and release the cocking lever so the spring is now pushing against the pellets. The gun is a break barrel and whilst there are pellets in the loading tube each time the barrel is broken and shut one pellet is advanced into the breach.

The repeater bit is working fine; I just loaded 5 pellets into it and shot them through the chrono and each one loaded correctly by simply breaking the barrel and closing it. Using Hobby pellets it was averaging 430fps into the chrono when using the auto-load, and 525fps when loaded individually; presumably as they were seated slightly better. The advertised velocity when these came out was 560fps so its not doing badly and would probably improve after a clean and possible re-spring. Its running absolutely fine for general garden plinking which is really what they were intended for.

    I'm looking for £79 + post

Retracted Yeti has an old ASI break barrel (not a Paratrooper) fitted with the same autoload mechanism.
I shot it a few years ago and was astonished at how well the mechanism worked.
Does anyone know if it was the same system that Air Arms used some years later?
