BSF - The 55/60/70 (and 65 ) nice to shoot once tuned

FWB Sport - The best, once again, when tuned.

WEBLEY OMEGA - Nice. The 'Sport.

    WEIHRAUCH 80 - Better suited to FAC @ 17 ft.lbs m.e.

WEIHRAUCH 95 - Poor mans 'Sport. Good trigger.

I can see the HW80 working best at 17ft/lbs as the pellet will have left the building before all those mechanics have an effect... plus the body behind it.

I've had a few Theobens and their lock times are fast but they are still hold sensitive. Who agrees with me? No better than a basic tuned springer set up, which is probably why I reverted back to my Sport. Now they are classics but, keeping to the topic, are the old ones better than the new? I have a 90's HE Fenman to shoot and a SLR88 to keep, so is there anything to be gained from the todays lineup?

Finally, I said before that I thought the Park 91 was the best standard out of the box rifle classic. Can anyone think of a modern rifle that competes with it? Anyone else agree with me?

I think it will become a classic - just like the Webley Mk 3 ! Doesn't mean to say it will be a good airgun though.

I favour the HW77K. I just have this thing for German engineering.

It's a big heavy beast, would the 25, 30 or 99, at a push, not be more appropriate?

Agree with you about the in-yer-face external ratchet on the TX Mally. First time I saw it I thought it was a poorly designed afterthought of a safety device. Something a bit nannying about it too, unlike the HW77's discreet anti-bear trap mechanism.

No all TXs have the anti bear trap.

Got to agree with Muskett Re the Park....

My .177 93 with T/hole stock is one VERY accurate airgun in standard spec...& can compete with the best of the German stuff...that has had a small fortune spent on it to make it competitive....it's just that i'm a cr@p shot....if someone wants to have a shoot off with out of the box springers...i'll supply this 93 to be used by a competant shot...

How about the Rivi charity event..."bestest ever springer" Comp..?

    Whatever you choose Nocity.......

Maybe we should ask a noted "marksman" to trial all the springers on the day...the trouble is..you wouldn't know which airgun had been "tweaked"...& which was a standard version...so it wouldn't be a fair comparison

But my Park would take some beating..

And yes, all my bikes (apart from a Hinkley Triumph which I had to pay extra for a locking fuel cap ) and cars are Japanese. Well, at least it pleased MRGRUMPY.
