Haenal Model 28 info please?

Hi I’m not really a pistol man, so I defer to you experts.
I have been offered a Haenal Model 28.

It is in used condition see pic. Works OK, sod to cock.

Can I have any info regarding age and what would be a fair price to pay please?

Hi there,

The Haenel model 28 in fine original condition is a £200 gun usually. Your gun, althought complete seems to have very little blued finish left, so as a result I would say a fair price would be around £110-£130.

The Haenel model 28 pistol was manufactured by C.G Haenel based in Suhl,Germany from around 1930 to 1939(ish). The company was taken over by the Russians after WW2, and production re-started using old parts and machinery. Very small numbers of pistols were produced until around 1952.

There was also a repeater version of the Model 28 produced however this is a lot rarer than the single shot. Power is low on these pistols, and they are mostly collected for the passing resemblance to the Luger Service pistol and the high levels of quality manufacture and materials.
