    £200

Just out of interest, Do you think £200 for a MK 11 Webley Service barrel is a bit steep ? Forget the badly fitting Knibbs efforts.
I forgot to mention I am after one

    Hello,

If you REALLY WANT a Service barrel £200 is a steal.
If your not too fussed , yes , its expensive.
And as you already know , depends on the calibre as well ....

    Ey up Binners,

I cant remember how much those "badly fitting ones" cost...(£140?) but wouldn't it be cheaper to get a barrel blank & let your "friendly" engineering Co. make you one..? Or...even adapt a "badly fitting one" to make it fit...rather than paying 200 beer tokens...?

If spending £200 gets you what you need, perhaps a set of all 3 calibres, which will have the bonus of adding to the overall value, this might make it worthwhile.
I have tried the 'make your own'. It's a bit frought depending on where you start.
My latest effort was on a .25 blank for £40 that is very short compared to the standard mk2. This was machined as a 'carbine' and a cocking aid/sound moderator added and has been very successful. The time I spent on it would have easily justified spending £200.
My first attempt, many years ago, is still a nice long externally machined solid bar! Deep hole drilling and rifling are difficult to put it mildly, for this amateur.
It will have to wait a little longer.

Is it even possible to purchase a long enough rifled blank nowdays?

I have a .177 Knibbs barrel on a MkII Service and it fits very well. Were some of them poorly finished then? I think the Knibbs ones now cost £160 so £200 for an original one is not bad value comparatively speaking.

I'd be tempted to buy the one offered..but barter...hard. Plan B. would be to order (then wait........& wait) a "copy" & get it (re) fitted.ATB,Chris.

Not dithering me Old Mucker! as I have not yet been offered one at £ 200. Sorry if it read that way but I was just hoping somebody might be tempted to part with one.
I would sooner have a genuine Webley even with the wrong serial number than a replica.
