Back in Russia for the summer, and had some great fun last night plinking with exploding pellets, gives plinking a whole new dimention. They are commercially available over here. Question is, would they be legal in UK if I bring some in next year.
Dick
no they are illegal over here
Big time against the rules over here, shame that.
Thanks guys, its what I thought but had to check.
Dick
Do they have match heads inserted in the pellet skirt?

If anyone did smuggle them in and the Press got to hear of it, that would probably bring a total ban on airguns quicker than you can say 'Blammo'.
In Wesley's old book he shows some (1930s?) explosive pellets which were marketted in Britain, so its not a new idea.
Wouldent mind some pics though, packaging n all! I wonder what the effect would be on Rogers bonce???
No, not match heads !
They are plastic diabolo shape with hollow skirt and metal ball in forward end, with small cap infront of ball, similar to small pistol cap. Packaging is a tin of 50 each in its own indent in internal plastic holder. Great fun in auto !
The law here says that as long as its .177 anything goes, some of trhe homebrews have to be seen to be believed, will try for some pics next time.

Hi.
I tryed some cal 25 pellets that had a primer for large rifle glued to the tip.
Accuracy was bad, maybe 2" spead on 20 meters with 5 pellets.
But it was fun shoting on hard surfaces as they give a big bang.
Small pistolprimers fit in cal 177 as they are 4,5mm in diameter, but they will ruin the bore of your gun.
A friend broke a mason brick (SP?) using his old Luznik 87 in cal 177, and the small pistolprimers. His wife was NOT happy with this, and he had to change the brick that he has broken in the fireplace.
That was not an easy job.
I read of some guy shoting rabbits over in the US using homemade explosive pellets. And he had great suxsess with them.
He wrote that he clearly had seen the pellet exploding on impact. Both on the rabbits skull and when using boddyshots.
The inside where the pellet had hit was a complete mess because of the exploding primer. The only good thing abouth using this pellets was that the rabbit died right away.
Sincerely
Rune

Hmm. Cruel and Unusual practises persist in the US it seems. Why they would want to do this I have no clue, other than thinking they are either very foolish or sadistic. Most Americans can easily buy a decent .22 rimfire and kill the rabbits cleanly rather than treating them like this. Tut tut. I hope you don't do that in Norway, which seemed a very civilised place when I visited.
Hi.
I dont hunt at all. Not with powderburners and not with airguns.
it is NOT legal to hunt using airguns here in Norway.
Even if there like 70ft/lb air rifle that would rip the head straight off a squirrel?

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE,IT JUST COSTS MORE
So. Long story short.
No they're not legal
No don't bring any back next year
No they're not necessary even if you shoot like a Russian or an American
and
No making you're own "special" pellets doesn't improve their accuracy or make you look "cool" to the big kids
Nothing to see here, move along please![]()
