weighing pellets to reduce vertical spread?

after alot of shooting with this pellet solely by picking them from the tin, i have decided to dedicate some more time and try and test for vertical dispersion with weighed pellets. The advertised weight is 31.2grains but i haven't found one of 20 that exhibits that weight

largest variance is 0.7grains with 30.5 being the most predominant batch 5 of 20. I will shoot the 30.5 Batch and the 30.9 batch then a batch from the tin and will compare results to check vertical dispersion. will probably do it at 120m-131yds

The pellets out of box is only for plinking ! When i want good long range groups i weigh them . I can count for good results only when they have 0.2gr maximum difference in .177 cal. You can see it and in the chrony. Out of box they have more variation in fps. You are going to observe serious difference in vertical dispersion !!!!!

all results i obtained so far at long range have been with out of the box pellets. i have a whole box of weighed pellets which range from 30.5-31.3. i

i had to postpone my shooting these two wks but next weekend i will chrono each shot and record the impacts on a board while filming them. i hope to see the difference in vertical dispersion too.

flims i see in your videos that you are shooting and windy days at long ranges. I dont know how the 0.25 pellets perform but for over 80m i prefer really calm days. I remember the first experiment that i had make with FTT 0.22 at 50m with out of box and out of scale the difference in group was obvious better with the seconds. Usually one of five is flayer but with this process one of ten and that not always. Something with the diameter i think.

yes most of my tests were carried out around the 120meter mark, i did have some longer range tests but most of them were around the said range. The wind velocity doesn't bother me as much up to 8mile/hour. All i have to do is to dial more windage, however when the wind changes from 6-9mph for example, the shots will impact two extremes left and right of the Point of Aim.

i should test the batch this weekend at 120 and if possible 145m.

the pellets out of the paper had bigger variations
Huge difference when shooting long range.
I weighted 2 tins and still have half of them. Nerve breaking job

On the other hand, if someone is lucky enough and manages to pick the pellets weight variation in the opposite order of his gun power variation
he will probably have even better results

i finally had some time to go try out the pellets i had weighed. these were the 30.5grain batch of pellets. distance to target was 116meters. Wind conditions about 3-4 Mile/ hour full value gusting to 7 at some point.

I'm not sure if the weighing definitely effects accuracy but the vertical was not too bad at this distance considering an average of 2" vertical for any given group. What it gives you is peace of mind, you know that the pellets are good to go. the rifle does not have a regulator though.

wind 0.5Mils.

here's our setup. this way i can really monitor the wind with the left eye, observe conditions and squeeze off at the same time.

here are another 4 groups testing vertical. not too shabby, still within the capability of hitting a cigarette packet with relative ease.

I am not expert in pcp but i think that 2" group at 116 m with unregulated rifle is more than fine ! The most serious that i can do is to ask you how do you rate pellets out of scale and out of box in your shooting ?
