If it is a 30-30 ret.(with thick posts either side of the thin lines) the bottom thick post is handy as a 45yd aimpoint on the right mag!

As Chris C say's judging by eye...then bracketing (only just started bracketing) is the favourite way.
Some people use the 'Blurr' of their scope to judge up to 15yds'ish.
then over 35yds...there is a lot to be said for it, as kill zone size is not important,.
Reducers are always within set distances as well, so there is help out there if you know where to look!
(Looking at my scores this year....I Don't!!)
    Goodluck.

Would a Scope with the SCB Retucle be suitable for hunting with a .22? If anyone has a picture of their aimpoints when using a .22 that would be great!

    It is MTC's Reticle..(Gary Cooper)
    Great scopes with amazing Ret's

They will Work very well with .22 They are a mildot system, broken down into 1/4 and 1/2 mildots!...basically.
They are sensible ret's for airguns...probably even more sensible for .22 (critical aimpoints)
    Try it.
You can use chairgun to help set it up.

SCB is ideal for .22, I used one for ages. The aimpoints will be different for each gun depending on scope height MV and pellets BC. You can get a pretty good idea from Chairgun or just shoot some range cards.

    Sr 6/mtc

    This 'll get me barred!
The MTC is a virtual copy of the SR 6
Both work great but the hawke will get slated because of they're early years poor excuse for glass.
Mill dot also work great If you spend some time shooting with it.
    As will the Falcon reticles

Really? ........Have you ever studied the MTC SCB ret?

The principles of most multi aim points are the same but in practice they are quite different.

I have decided that I want a Leup 3x9x33 EFR with an SCB ret!!
I love the SCB ret but find that there are limitations with my Mambas when it comes to light gathering on dark courses and PX error if you dont try and eliminate it.

Dont like milldots at all, prefer my old Tasco TR ret than Milldots.

I have that gorgeous scope...illuminated...without that Ret!..TMR is a bit 'Fine' in the dark places...even illuminated, once it goes slightly fuzzy, very hard to pick out ret!
(Not for sale before you ask!)

    Seriously Doubt it!

I've no interest in seeing you barred but you may wish to check on that.

For the record, I'll stick with plain old mil-dots, thanks very much. Quite liked the idea of the Leupold TMR ret but in reality it's too fine. Always find ladder reticles too busy for my liking with no real gains over a nice simple mil-dot, I don't need lines for windage.

I agree...i just like the 'multi aimpoint' half mil's for my bracketing season!

    the best ?

    hi all,
I tried a 10x44 Viper but don't like the "good view range" on it
other then that excellent scope , nice reticle

I guess a 3-12x44 Mamba or Viper would cure that , I could set the mag at 8x or even 6x and get a longer "good view range"

I also consider the Hawke SR6 scopes
which one would be the best for hft ?
    Airmax 3-12x44 , 1" tube
    Nite-eye 3-12x50 , 1" tube
    Sidewinder 3-12x50 , 30 mm tube

Derek got a battered one that I wanted for benchrest but it whites out a bit too much for my eyes on high mag very bright before it does it though.

You can have a play with it if you want and its yours for close to your age.

Oh and its Burris ballistic plex for the best HFT reticle.
