HW 40 Issue - Please help!

I was using the HW40 today and I loaded the pistol - closed it, went to shoot it and nothing! The trigger will not fire it and I cannot re-open it so now I have a loaded cocked gun. I am not sure if possibly the screw has fallen out of the trigger but I had not looked that closely at it before so I dont know if it is missing anything. Could that be a cause? Any suggestions ?
    Thanks,
    josh

You should be able to re-open the pistol. It takes a fair pull to open it, but as long as you pull the "hammer" back to release the cocking arm, there's nothing to mechanically hold it closed. At least then you can release the pressure, unload the gun, and strip the trigger safely.

Thanks Chewy I will give it a go. I was worried that the mechanism would not allow it to be opened once shut but now I know that I will give it a try. Thanks for your help.
    Cheers,
