    Airsporter valuation *NOW FOR SALE*

My uncle has a bsa airsporter ,that he thinks he brought new in the 60s,not too sure on the exact date though ,so two questions I am sure someone here could answer for me ,when did BSA start making the airsporter and what would one from this period be worth ,no photo but I would say very tidy condition .
    Thanks in advance.

    A few pointers.

In the absence of a photo, a bit more info is needed. Does it have an automatically opening loading tap? Is the etching still visible on the cylinder, or is it a later one with the Airsporter legend stamped into the top of the cylinder. What's the serial number, or at least, the serial number prefix?

They started making Airsporters ages ago. Right now that's cleared up it's worth 15.00. How would you like me to send it pp or p/o?

Thassss made me laugh . Post a serial number when you can, and we'll see if we can't increase its best-guess value to over the £25 mark . Atb: G.

Correct ,the serial number is GD34649.
After now having a look at the gun I would say in decent condition for its age not that I am any sort of expert .
Also its loading tap does operate automatically when cocking not manual as I said earlier .
Some pics but I am no david bailey .

It looks like a MkII, and a nicely looked after one at that. Definately over £120.

    Airsporter

If the value is about £120 then the foresight protector which is on it must be worth a lot of money on its own, because us refurbers cannot get them and of course that Leupold scope makes it about £120,

    Seriously, a nice looking gun.

Nice looking example of what I assume is a Mk2. I suggest that your uncle keeps it and then passes it on to you when the time comes. Every Englishman should own an Airsporter.

Manchester Airguns currently have a Mk1/Mk2 stock for sale at £100.

If the stock is not cracked - you need to look very closely at the top in the area at the rear of the trigger block - then I reckon this gun could sell for around £150.
