I may regret selling this but hand on heart, this rifle is surplus to requirements.
Serial no is in the 11,000's, so fifth batch Lincoln dating from 1907/08 according to Knibbs' bible. Original but well worn finish overall. Stampings are some of the clearest I have ever seen on a Lincoln and cylinder is marked "H The Lincoln Air Rifle Patent". Tap is secured by the patented knurled screw but also has what looks like a non original screw in the centre of the knurling (not seen this feature on a Lincoln before, so not sure if original but have seen several variations of the knurled screw). Lovely walnut stock is stamped with the standing man trademark and "LINCOLN JEFFRIES INVENTOR & PATENTEE". There is also a retailer's brass plate fitted into the right side of the stock: S Chambers, Gunmaker & C0, Cardiff. I have not been able to find any reference to an S Chambers in Cardiff trading as a Gunmaker, so he was probably an Ironmonger or General Dealer. Mr Chambers clearly thought a lot of himself as his plate is fixed over the standing man trademark. I guess it could be removed but my preference would be to leave him there as it's all part of the rifle's history.
The cocking lever securing catch is a replacement and the trigger pivot screw is quite badly burred. Still, there is no reason to remove it, so I guess someone with the suitable skills and tools could tidy it up a bit. The correct Lincoln sights are fitted and both rear and foresight are secure within their respective dovetails. The .177 rifle shoots well and smoothly.

Hi John.......I have one like this, I think its 5756.......and I am sure it has the same dealer stamp.......I checked the old Kellys directorys on line, and think it was a ironmongers shop I seem to remember......I would get helen to confirm this, but I have oiled and stashed everthing deep in the attic
Thanks Eddie. Please don't put Helen to any trouble.
Kind regards,
John

F2F price now reduced to £200
This rifle is being viewed by potential buyers on Wednesday, so removed from sale on this thread until then
Regards,
John
The rearsight blade broke when I demonstrated this rifle to a potential buyer last Wednesday much to my embarrassment and a replacement will be required. The rifle is still for sale and due to the above, I'm dropping the price to £150 posted.
If there are no takers, I'm tempted to ask someone with the required skills to use it as a base model for a repro (hate that word) Short Military Pattern.
Kind regards,
John
Hello,
I could be wrong here, but didn’t someone do that about 20 years back?
Anyone else know about that? Does it still exist?
Did BSA actually build a BSA Short Military?
I know the general consensus is they didn’t, but ……………?
Regards,
Sam
Oh, apologies for changing tack on your thread - sorry
Hello John,
Well, we all live and learn. I had no idea 6 were made.
Would a photo of yours be possible, please?
I vaguely remember an article in one of the Airgun Magazines, but I sold all mine years back.

Sam
