1858 New Army Target .44 Caliber Revolver

What weight of powder are you guys using in your Remington .44's

I am using around 18 grains (1.6cc scoop) of pyrodex with .454 balls and it is shooting too high, but good groups.

    Thanks

    18gns of TS2 black powder & a 457 round ball

Also 4 of my 'finest' hard wool felt dry wads to bring the ball up to level

If I shoot it from a 'rest' (to take the idiot factor out ! - ME ) it will put all shots in the 9 or 10 on a PL7 target

    Cheers

    Load

21gn FFFg and a .454 ball with a semi greased felt wad to space the ball out.

15g (weight) 777 FFFG, ground rice filler (9mm case full), plain felt wad, Alox lubed .454 ball in my Rem.

Shot way high when I first had it, regardless of load. Had to 'Dremel' the front sight down by about a third - shoots to point of aim now.

Im on 18 grains by weight of fffg pyrodex P and 1 wonderlube wad and a .454 round ball

point of aim, mine would also be hitting high at 25m but I lollypop mine on the black and they go in the middle.

I have opened up the width of the rear sight, the thin metal strip, this allows me to get a thin strip of light either side of the front blade and get better sight picture/alignment, previously it was just all black and you could be slightly left or right and not tell
Don't worry it only seems kinky the first time

If the groups are good, wind the sights down I've tried a few loads in mine, 18gr of FFFg seems sbout right.
