    Slippery slope...

    Hi,
I have been reading about people wanting to scope up their older air rifles-its a good idea but you can get carried away! I started off with a 4X32 then moved up to a 3-9X40...this week Ive moved up again...

The 77 is fairly ancient but still gives a good account of herself, this is what happens when trying to stay competitive-a miniature arms race!

    yes-i get tempted,but i've stuck with 3-9-40 mini scopes
the one gun i wont scope, however is my stutzen, which looks too good to scope
also open sights can be fun!

Is that a rifle mounted on that scope?

    Very nice combo though!

Loading is fiddly! The rifles heavy to start with as well!

I've just put a scope on a (old) Falke 80. The first time I've put a scope on an air rifle in 40 years. Have yet to shoot it but I'm pleased with the looks.

I agree Auburn! Problem is I got sucked into an arms race with my mates...a sad man thing a bit like owning sheds that are never big enough!

    Hmmmmmmn nnnnnnn

    The HW77K

is a modern rifle! It's accuracy potential is the same as a Pro-Sport or a flippin' Whiscombe for that matter. Nothing clever about mounting a massive scope on it.

Has no place in a Collector thread, I am sorry but it doesen't.

Keep it simple, put it on straight, clean your barrel, choose pellets carefully, laugh at those with plonker extensions on top of an airgun ....
BAZ- your falke is very pretty

S/A, i seem to recall that Carlos Fandango made Super Wide Wheels (that fitted a Ford Anglia)

ULVERSTON, it looks like your scope wouldn't be out of place on a Barrats 50calibre sniping rifle (shoot 'em dead from a mile away!!!)

Hsing-ee, my '77 is (apparently) from around '83, at 26 years old, i reckon it's a collectors piece (even though they still make 'em!!)

    it isn't a Karbine tho'...

    Red face

    Forgot to mention

    here's an Airsporter MK1 that's scoped up

    >>>scoped mk1 airsporter<<<

    >>>closer<<<

there are screw holes in the stock and trigger block (this wasn't done by me i hasten to add) that can be made invisible.

it still shoots OK and i obtained a rearsight for it....

the scope rail seems to have been made by a blacksmith and is very sturdy but spoils the sleek lines of this classic rifle

Johnbaz! I like the 77 but I think the airsporter is pretty cool as well! Infact the airsporter actually looks military! Whats the scope mount made from?

No that actually is the scope mount

i'll dig it out and take a pic later today

it's made of steel and uses woodscrews od each side of the stock and two machine screws on one side of the trigger block...

it was well thought out and well made really just out of place on a fine old beezer

the actual rail is brazed to the stock mount and, from memory is welded to the trigger block mounting plate..
