Original Model 50 mainspring info

The Model 50 with the three ball bearing trigger has its spring held in with two cross pins. They are not particularly fat and are under a lot of strain when the rifle is cocked. I would beware of putting a mighty spring in one lest one day i ended up with the spring etc sticking out of my eye.

Actually, the mainspring of the Diana 48/52 sidelevers is also held in place by these two pins only, and their unrestricted versions are pretty strong, about 18 - 19 ftlbs in .177.

However, the spring preload of the Model 50 is much higher than that of the 48/52.

I think i will go for a standard airsporter spring for my rifle and see how it goes.
