I'm looking forward to getting hold of a Webley 'Alecto', as I'm a fan of single/multi stroke pneumatic air pistols, wherever they are made.
I think it's a pity the 'Nemesis' wasn't in production for longer.
The new Webley 'Paradigm' looks to be an interesting item, even in prototype stage.

I saw 2 of them today at the UBC meet.
I didn't think to ask where they were made, but I couldn't see anything wrong with the build quality. If anything it was much better than I was expecting. The barrel strap is a properly shaped clamp, not just a strip of flat metal.

It doesn't have springer type recoil, but it does have a very slight muzzle flip, which is quite noticable on the highest setting.

As for accuracy, one of the guys there scored 147 on a set of snooker spinners, which was quite impressive.

The trigger is very smooth and light, but it doesn't have a break point as such. You have a smooth pull and then it fires.

The only thing I didn't like was the feel of the grips, but I'm used to my Gamo Compact grips which I've filed to suit me.

You can pump it 1,2, or 3 times for different power levels. Level 3 needs quite an effort to close it, but that takes it close to the legal limit anyway.
Level 3 also produces quite a loud bang as well.

When you cock it, a safety catch drops down in front of the trigger, and you release the safety with your trigger finger without having to look for it.

I think if Webley get the price right, this pistol should do quite well for them.

Tried one of these out today, brilliant I don't have a lot of experience of air pistols, but this was really nice. Effortless cocking on one pump, perfect for our 6yd comps. A feather light trigger. Loved the idea of the built in different front sights, they rotate to give you different sight pictures. It has a nice weight and balance to it. Build quality seems to be quite good. Finally it is very accurate. These are just my opinions, but I would suggest that you put your resevations away and try to have a shoot with one one of these, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.

I'm going to place an advance order for mine on Monday

That's the pistol Jim Driver was showing us on the webcam. He said that everyone there wanted to try it.

    Hi.

Just Like to say thank you to Brian who represented Webley. I think he done the company proud.

He Brought down Two of the Alecto Pistols.

I think everyone was happy with it & we gave Brian some good feedback about the pistol. As you can see from above posts Garry & Paul, liked the pistols in there own way.

For me I liked the looks, build quality. The only thing for me is being a left hander I couldn't appreciate the grip properly. However I was still able to shoot it with it being too uncomfortable.

I'd be really interested in trying a dedicated Left Hand version

    Regards
    Paddy.

    Webley Alecto

    Lovely pistol.

Tried it out yesterday at the UBC meet. I did actually shoot it, not just posing aka Lara Crofts mum.

It is well balanced with the main weight at the back so it does not feel to heavy to shoot (important for me).

The grip is very well moulded (thumb and trigger finger) and has an adjustable palm rest. Easy to pump on one pump and I could do it on two pumps as well. If you try to pump it four times it vents.

I like the look of the insides, well machined.

Adjustable sights, adjustable trigger - the ones I tried were light and smooth.

I totally adored that the safety was in front of the trigger and just required a quick flick with your trigger finger.

It comes in a box with pellets, barrel brush and tools and the box is lockable.

One thing we came across was on one of the pistols one side of the opening mechanism came adrift - easy to sort, as with everything else it is adjustable and it was quickly tightened up again with a screwdriver - no problem.

And as said previously, on the snooker spinners Adam77K scored a 147 with it so that shows it accuracy.

Guess what I am buying as my next pistol at the end of November

    Alecto

Arrived at the meet and got handed two of these to circulate amongst the troops. Superb pistols. I was dissapointed that there were no major criticisms so I could ask for one on extended trial. Others have already passed comments and anything I say will be duplication so I'll shut up.
Minor snags which we discussed with Brian the rep were that the blueing was coming off on several "wear points" and the release clamps for the cocking lever had worked loose on one side of one pistol. This was duly noted.
Brian refused to believe that I had had an accident with some superglue and I was forced to give the pistol back.

Very nice gun. Feels a bit bigger in the hand than a HW40 or Compact. The body of the pistol is a little chunkier to accommodate a broader air cylinder. The whole body of the pistol is plastic unlike the Gamo which has steel side pieces. I can't remember whether the HW40 is similar. This makes the pistol fairly light for its size and very pointable. I had a slight concern that this might be less rigid but could see no signs of flexing under load of cocking.

Cocking effort is very light for the first stroke. Power is reckoned to be about 3 ft.lbs on one stroke. We didn't have a chrono but it certainly felt to have enough poke even on one stroke, and a little more than my HW75 which does about 2.5 ft.lbs.

The second stroke takes a little more effort. I'd guess this one is similar effort to the HW40's. Judging by the way the spinners reacted, power is noticeably higher on this setting. This comes with a bit more crack on firing and a little more muzzle flip. The third stroke is stiffer again, but not too difficult if you're used to the knack of cocking single stroke pistols. A louder crack and a bit more flip is the result. It certainly feels like it could be near the limit.

The trigger is light and smooth, but on the test guns there was no stop between first and second stage. To be honest I don't know if it's supposed to be a 2 stage trigger, but I would hope so. Hopefully some adjustment will bear fruit here. It's certainly a predictable let off point and easy to shoot accurately.

There is a weaver rail on the forward part of the lever/barrel assembly for a red dot and a picatinny style rail underneath for a laser or torch.
