    Target shotgun

    Hi

Does anyone shoot Target Shotgun?, interested in what slugs are used before perhaps buying a mould/reloading equipment.

    Any advise would be appreciated

    Hi Jock

Several brands are in common use, price varies a lot depending on what you choose.

Remington Reduced Recoil slugs are great but very expensive, Magtech are cheap & cheerfull but do not always group that well, the middle of the road for price & performance are the 28g & 32g offerings from Sellier & Bellot, they are accurate & the price is bearable.

I have loaded my own in the past but just cant be bothered these days as it takes to long to cast them & by the time your done your not saving that much money.

Oh, Right! I have had shotguns for years, but didn't know that. I quite fancy trying a slug.

I shoot .410 target shotgun. However slugs are expensive. I have tried reloading a little. However there are no good .410 moulds avalible. Im going to go down the swaging route. Either a set of .410 dies from corbin or get some made by one of the guys on the castboolit forum. As for 12g you have loads of options (lee, Lyman, Corbin just to name a few)

    Loads of info here http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=41865

a lot of fun but you need a substantial back stop.

    Tar Hunt 12g bolt action

You can get a bolt action shotgun in the states which would be fantastic for target shotgun. I was thinking of putting in for a varitaion but dont know if it would be accepted as I dont think it is a regonised discipline.
