    buddy bottle valves

A friend of mine just phoned me to say he is sending his buddy bottles off to a very reputable Rapid specialist to put quick fill valves on the end of them. I told him I'd heard this was a very poor idea. He assures me the gunsmith in question is recommended by Theoben and his conversion is perfectly safe. Any thoughts?

If anyone gets a moment spare, can they explain what a quick valve is? And perhaps why it's "a bad idea"?

Unless your friend fancies a shiny new prosthetic arm or worse, tell not to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any holes drilled in the end of the bottle compromise the integrity of the bottle. Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think Theoben would recommend anyone do this sort of mod at all.

Don't know what the fuss is about. It's just airgunnings answer to natures "natural selection"

Tell him to do it, in the meantime borrow some money off him and look after some of his rifles. Not his Stalkers though..

I'm beginning to think this is all a fiendish plot to assassinate my friend. For those of you who know this particular whip cracking, leather tooling, graveyard creeping gent, you may not be surprised that he's being encouraged to turn his Rapid into a suicide bomb.

A valve at the front of a buddy bottle will let you fill the bottle without unscrewing it. "A bad idea" because it means drilling into the buddy bottle and weakening it - making it more likely to explode under pressure and kill the shooter and/or his mates.

answer is no, no way, and not in a milion years !

(for a variety of rather obvious reasons that have already been stated )

Give him a a slap mate,

Careful though Buddyboy - I didn't say he told me that Theoben recommend this guy putting valves on buddy bottles. He told me Theoben recommend this guy, who also happens to put quick fills on buddy bottles. Subtle difference I know, but worth making in case accusations start getting hurled around.
