    A cunning plan

I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but I am thinkiung if I can get the other into shooting an air rifle, then I won't get ear ache for going off to play and can get away with spending more on kit.

It helps she likes hunting, but being of a slight frame (7 Stone!) she can't edven lift my hw97k. So.... what do I buy her, my requiremens are full power, cheap, (she may not enjoy), light and I sit back for your imformed opions

    Cheers

does it have to be a springer m8?

if not the AA S200 is a cracking gun for the price i think (and even better if 2nd hand). it's very light and quite small. very accurate too.

just a thought, i'm sure there will be more suggestions without delay :-))
I thought I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, but it was just some ba$tard with a torch bringing me more work.

Probably worth looking above the budget/entry level in case she doesn't enjoy shooting (you'll obviously inherit) I've not fired one personally but a mate of mine picked up a very nice Edgar brothers .22 rifle 10.5 ft lb energy but could possibly be tweaked.

My girlfriend is 5 foot tall and 7 stone, only thing she could heft with comfort was the S200.

Also discovered that she is left eye dominant, and the ambi stock helped there. Gun is very accurate, so she's happy when she hits what she aims at.

Also agree with second hand, well worth the money all round

As I have a hw97k I'm damned if I am going to buy her indoors a pcp when I can't have one! Perhaps I should start considering trading in my 97k and going for some used kit off here...light enough for her to try...hmm... one to ponder on

Ps is using a manual pump for the refilling a real lung killer?

why not take her along to the local club and let her try a few.

i also don't see the S200 being better than the 97k (IMHO). i would rather take the 97k any day. i think it is a superb springer and looks brilliant. yes the S200 is a great value for money PCP (accurate, light and easy to use) - just not my cuppa

i'm sure if you sold that you could buy yourself an S200 if that's what you want. then you could both have one .

and the pump is fairly physical work (but the small cylinder on the S200 means you won't have to work too hard for too long, although it will need more frequent top ups )

    Freaky

Weird, just finished the exact same with my missus.
4'11" - 7.5 stone and left eye dominant.... Hmmm I work away all week....... LOL

seriously though we tried loads at shops and game fairs and narrowed down to S200 and Falcon Lighthunter. She loved both so much that we're keeping both although if anyone wants the Raptor Lighthunter it may be up for grabs at cost price as she prefers her single shot version. The magazine is a bit "complicated" for her

Be warned though, it is highly soul destroying when it becomes apparent that she is a better shot than you

I too worried about her been better sbd, perhaps a nice shiny new chinese model for her

I do like my 97k, and don't really wanna change at the mo, however I was hoping for a cheap (see if you like it) rifle for the missus as I'm not sure she'll get into it. How much do the lighthunters go for ? and would only look s/h as may as well let someone else take the drop in value

my 8 year old daughter is using a B.S.A meteor which she seems to find light enough!

why not try a supersport or a lightning
both are quite light, fairly accurate and
    not too expensive.
just don't expect the same build quality as the hw though

    good luck

Looking to go along to the hft, and plan to drag her along to have a look, although she seems more interested in bunny hunting than targets.

Air Arm TDR, or Possible a S-400 series carbine.

The S-400 series is perfect, the s-200 fine but, when you shoot the S-400 you'll see why you spent the extra money.
