bsa Cadet / Major?
Hi There been given an old
BSA looking a images on the internet i think it could be a cadet or cadet major.
needs alot of work doing to it
Its a lovely looking gun dont know whether its worth spending the time or money doing it up?
the break barrel leaver has sheared off underneath where it goes into the body of the gun to compress the spring.
it needs a rear sight
dont know what the done thing is with old guns do you restore them to working order, but leave the outside left worn and old looking.
or do you restore it to how it was when it came out the factory?
its circa 1949
look forward to hearing your advise

Cadet/Cadet Major
The Cadet Major has an adjustable rear sight, the Cadet rear sight is fixed.
Quite a few about and spares thin on the ground so judging from your description I would suggest sell for spares and put the money towards one in decent condition.
I bought a Cadet Major for £25 not so long ago, needed a little TLC but was complete. Amazingly accurate up to 20 yards, very well made gun.

Cadet/Cadet Major
No rear sight!! So... Cadet Major is 42 inches long...Cadet is 37.5 inches long.

Bsa major cadet
thanks guys.
will probably give it a good clean and leave it as it is.
I would probably never use it any way, even if it was pristine.
