webley mark one pistol dating

hi all, been out today and picked up a mark one pistol in .177 .it has wooden grips with brass winged pellets embossed on them and a safety catch by the trigger.serial no is 14632.could anyone tell me its approx age ,all info will be very much appreciated....cheers greasemonkey .

Mk1 third series - 1925/1926 I think.... Does it have the US Patent stamped on the cylinder? These are great little pistols to shoot and the build quality is superb

cheers for that prewar,has british patent but not us patent,yes i agree build quality looks excellent,but have yet to shoot it i think iwill give it a sympathetic overhaul first,many thanks.. greasemonkey

The US Patent was July 1925. Try and get a copy of Gordon Bruce's Webley Air Pistols. I prefer the straight grips to the postwar pistols to shoot, they usually don't need alot of maintenence work even after 80+ years
