Quarnford AirGunner's Shoot Dates Chat & Banter Thread.

    [B]Sunday shoot date's for 2015, 10.00am onwards.

    March

    April 26

    May 10 / 24

    June 14 / 28

    July

    August

    September

    October

    November

Quarnford Airgunner's events will recommence on Sunday 26th April 2015 10 am onwards then on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, list of dates to follow.

The format will be as before but without the catering facility so please bring your own food and drinks.
Please ensure you have shooting insurance when competing at Quarnford Airgunner's. QA is a small family run shoot in a stunning unique location, unlike many other venues where on each visit you find familiar/similar/same courses the undulating Quarnford terrain has different courses with totally different challenges, the organisers really put in a great deal of effort to provide this so please support Quarnford Airgunners. There is good parking and toilet facilities.

Look for the Quarnford Airgunner's sign on the A53 on the day of the shoot.

Please assist the organisers by not arriving at the venue early as the event will not start until 10am.

Organisers request, upon arrival please enrol at the cabin. Classes for PCP, Spring recoil & HFT.

Beginners & Junior shooters are always welcome @ Quarnford Airgunner's.

Quarnford Air Gunner's are located off the A53 Buxton to Leek road at Axe Edge Moor,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axe_Edge_Moor on the Staffordshire Derbyshire border.

QA is well signed on shoot day's, approximately 4 miles out of Buxton, 8 miles from Leek.

Nearby Flash is the highest vilage in England & home to the 2nd highest pub in the land.

Event's are held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from March to November.

Onsite facilities include hardstanding car parking & WC.

The undulating sloping terrain is home to seven different course layouts & with variations available to each one a differing course is set for every shoot.
The course can be shot FT or HFT you choose. The scoring system is two shots at each target, 2 for a knockdown, 1 for a target hit, 0 if you miss, is usually 20 targets max points 80, occasionally 25 targets max points 100. The knockdown targets with string reset have varying hole diameters and range from 7yds. to 55yds.
Some targets may occasionally be marked as standing only, some kneeling apart from these you can shoot seated, prone as you wish.
In addition on most dates there is a zero range, practice targets & seperate pistol course.

Quarnford Airgunners is all about enjoying your shooting in a competitive environment. See you there.

Please search 'Forthcoming Events' section here on AirgunBBS for the latest QA information.

In addition to the shoot there are some excellent walks in the area http://www.peakwalk.org.uk/axeedgemoor.asp http://www.walkingbritain.co.uk/walk...s/walk_a/1183/, then why not round off your day in Buxton.
If you live further away make a weekend of it, explore the market town of Leek, the Staffordshire Moorlands or the Peak District National Park.

Thank you Steve a Merry christmas to you, are you shooting or hunting at the moment? I am too busy working so the BBS is as far as it gets right now, at the present it seems that the weather is winning hands down.

    Sods Law!

We are really looking forward to getting back up to Quarnford but unfortunately at least the first 2 or 3 shoots of the new season clash with formal HFT commitments, the 13th March is the final round of the Midlands HFT Winter Series at Greyhound, the 27th March is the first round of the UKAHFT Series at Treetops in South Wales! Sods law, you go 4 months then they all come at once.
Look forward to seeing you all as soon as possible in April.

Good to hear from you folks, it always seems that we wait for ages and then there are other commitments but all the QA dates are at the top of the column so hope to see you there when you are able to make it.
Please spread the QA gospel to other airgunners.

The 1st QA shoot of the year went quite well with a reasonable turnout & some decent weather, lets hope we have more of the same on the 27th.

For those of you who were unable to attend the course used was to the right of the road, will the next event be an uphill battle?

    Quarnford

    Hi Steve,
Weather @ Q when I arrived on Sunday ---vision was down to around 150 yds up thru Flash got all my lights on & wipers flat out, nice Quarnford switching wind up the valley & it was bloody snowing ,then raining,my fingers were frozen for half the course.
I had two coats on ,bomber jacket with hood up & the new florro yellow cammo jacket that I have worn before, although I don`t think this style of cammo works too well.
The weather did clear half way round but by then both me & Karl had blown it K did 76,me 75, Platty did 72,don`t know the rest.
We just went out too early should have stay in the hut & had a few more cuppas & toasties.
How did you do @ the weekend.
    Pete
