    If Gareth's PC is relatively new then a new hard drive is all that's needed, keep the old drive as the 'slave' & after a month or two (when you've copied most of your old files) you can re-partition it as Free Space. As Andy says, dont let 'PC World' staff wipe the original disk (you can buy the new drive from them , but install it yourself).

    Now would be a good time to install Ubuntu (free Linux OS) instead of Windoze - its fully loaded with great Office/Photo/Interweb & Media Player Apps

    Easier method

    Possibly no need to buy a new PC or even another HDD if he's got 2 optical drives.

    Use BART P.E. to off load onto DVD(s), reformat original HDD - Roberts your aunties live in lover.

    Woo-hoo ... Hi guys, its been nearly three weeks (and nearly £300 ), but I'm back with a nice shiny new computer ... Have you missed me ??? I am going to spend the next day or so catching up, then I will deal with the things that have arisen while away (hope you've packed your bags Mr I.J. . Ha ha ...
