    info on pre/post war scope

    was given a scope some time ago by an old chap down the road from me im thinking it would be circa world war II or something like that

    stamp on it says LYMAN GUN SIGHT model 422 EXPERT USA

    any one know or have any info on it or what rifle it may have been on ect when they were in production.

    Hi Daryl,
    Lyman made some very nice scopes including the Targetspot 25X rifle scope which at just over 24 inches is one of the most elegant scopes ever made.
    The 422 Expert cost around $10-$15 in the mid 1930's and was used on various hunting rifles. Remington offered a Lyman No. 422 "Expert" 4X scope for the Sportsmaster 341 .22 starting in 1938, it retailed for $8.25 when ordered with a rifle.
