    Venom HW 50?

I have acquired an alleged Venom HW 50. How likely is this?
It has the sticker, the silencer, does 11 ft lbs and shoots superbly-.177.
But surely the expense makes it unlikely on this model?
Mind you writing this partly convinces me because the result is certainly worth it!
    Any thoughts?

I've got one, so it's not unheard of by any means.

I love HW 50's and I bet a venom one is superb , I too have heard of venom mod 50's so guess it's been done but perhaps not on a grand scale .

    Nice rifle

    Venom HW50

I've got a Venom HW55 which is the same action as the 50 with a manual breech lock added. I assume you mean the old model 50 and not the HW99 based one we sometimes see.

I remember they advertised the 55 at 10.5ftlbs in .177.

Thanks chaps. It is an older 50.
I have bought some dodgy fake venoms in the past ,hence the query.
On the shooting experience alone this one seems right and I am v. pleased with it. Not expensive either!

    Venom 50

I forgot to mention if its a true Venom rifle have a look at the little wheel bearing in the cocking linkage. Venom used to replace the small steel std HW one with their own larger wheel made from neoprene. MY 55 has this and it stops a lot of wear and adds smoothness compared to the std Weihrauch.

I cannot remember now if its the HW50 or HW55 that was Steve Popes faverite hunting rifle.

I think it was the Tyrolean HW55 that Steve liked.

The 'secret Airgun World writer' had a .22 HW50 commissioned from the Venom people way back when. Fitted with a 2.5x40 scope for HUNTING.

Old Herr Weihrauch liked shooting the HW50 the most of his stable. It is a nice, light, cheerful and sweet-shooting rifle. With a bit more poke it is probably perfekt (with the Rekord trigger).

    Hw50

A mate at my club in the early 80's had a Tyro HW55 from Venom that did 12ftlbs, so they obviously got the power up to the limit even though its much smaller than a 35.

I saw a 50 in my local gunshop some months ago, a std one with a tag on it for £40, I was very excited until the owner of the shop explained that it was a customers rifle and that was the cost of some new internals.
