    burnishing moly

    Can anyone tell me why moly grease needs burnishing in please?

    Moly GREASE doesn't need burnishing in, moly paste does and so does the dry-lube stuff like Dri-Slide.

    I think it is because the moly binds to the steel when you apply pressure to get it into close contact, making a hard, slippery surface. A bit like applying boot-polish to leather, rubbing it in and then polishing it.

    Moly grease should be applied as a thin smear, no burnishing involved. People usually use too much.
