Green shoots,
That is a 77 Sharps (sometimes called the 'English Sharps'). The Bourchart came after this design and had an internal hammer. ( http://www.pbase.com/halp/leosharpsborchardt ).
The most common Sharps is the 74 (Quigley down under etc.), there was then a 75 (which never went into production see http://www.csharpsarms.com/1875_rifle.php ) then the 77, which was the last of the 'hammer' rifles.
Cheers Terry
